Our Story
Valley Pools of PA has been Central Pennsylvania’s backyard aquatic authority for over 50 years. We believe that a custom-built pool or hot tub purchase is only the beginning of the story. Our mission is to ensure that the "fun" never stops, which is why we have built the region's most reliable Service & Repair Department to complement our construction and renovation capabilities. We also offer two retail locations in the Hershey and Harrisburg area for DIY enthusiasts.

Company History
Valley Pools was started by Mel Hoffer in 1967. Building pools was originally intended to be a part time venture to provide extra income for his growing family. He began by building pools for friends and neighbors. It wasn’t long until he received many more requests for pools due to referrals from existing clients. By 1970 Mel had decided to leave his full-time job and devote all his time to Valley Pools. He purchased a piece of farmland from his father and began his journey to expand Valley Pools in Campbelltown. Over the years, he would build a showroom and warehouse in the Campbelltown location.
Four of Mel’s sons, Ben, Steve, Pete and Bill, would join the family business and help drive its expansion. By 1980 a second location in Harrisburg was added as Valley Pools added hot tubs to its offerings. Over the years, Valley Pools has received numerous awards, including being named to the prestigious Aqua 100, which recognizes the top 100 pool builders in the country, multiple times.
Today we continue the legacy of Mel and the Hoffer family through our commitment to customer service and the latest pool industry knowledge. In 2025, we decided to add the "of PA" to our name to emphasize our focus serving customers across Central Pennsylvania including our core Harrisburg and Hershey areas. Our continued growth is driven by a focus on customer satisfaction and a deep understanding of what pool owners value most—fun, safe, and trouble-free experiences.
